What is the Gusto DRS
The Gusto DRS is a dust-reduction / pressurisation unit for caravans, camper trailers, and hybrids. Its goal is to reduce dust ingress (i.e. dust getting in through vents, seams, etc.) by keeping the inside slightly positively pressurised.

Here are the features/benefits that make the Gusto DRS “better” or at least attractive in many situations:
Benefit | How Gusto Delivers It | Why this matters for Signature Campers / offroad / long road travel |
---|---|---|
Side mounting (not roof) | The Gusto unit mounts to the side wall of the van, instead of being roof‐mounted. | Frees up roof real estate. More room for solar panels, for hatches, less roof penetrations which can lead to leaks, structural reinforcement, etc. Roof-mounted units often need more waterproofing and structural support. |
Always on when switched on | It works both when stationary and when travelling — doesn’t rely solely on speed or airflow. | Some dust reduction systems depend on motion / speed (air flow) to work well, so on slow/dusty roads or when parked, you may still get dust ingress. Being “always on” helps with keeping dust down in camp, at low speed, etc. |
Compact, discreet design | The unit is compact and can be fitted into a standard internal cabinet. Sleek appearance. | Looks matter, also less obtrusive inside the van. Less impact on internal layout, aesthetics. Also likely easier to service/filter changes. |
Better for solar and other accessories | Because roof isn’t used for the DRS, more room / capacity remains for solar panels. | For Signature Campers which often come with strong solar/electrical setups, this is useful. More solar = more off-grid capability. |
Reduced structural modifications / waterproofing | Gusto claim it “eliminates requirements for structural reinforcing and extensive waterproofing.” Side mounts, fewer roof cuts, etc. | Saves build complexity, lowers risk of leaks, and potentially cost / maintenance over time. Signature builds are tough already, so less weak points is good. |
Durability / Material & Build | Uses UV‐resistant ASA plastics on exposed parts, stainless steel fasteners, aluminium / steel frame, IP68 water resistance in some models (especially the Pro). | Good for harsh Australian conditions—sun, rain, dust, etc. Means longer life, less need for maintenance. |
Health / Interior preservation | Reduces dust, allergens, keeps interior cleaner. Less dust settling on surfaces, in bedding, etc. | For people spending a lot of time in the van (travelling, living full-time, etc.), this improves comfort and reduces cleaning. Also helps preserve finishes, appliances, fabrics.
